Spain teenager Lamine Yamal adressed talks on his future at Barcelona while also addressing comparisons to Lionel Messi.
Yamal admitted he hopes to “never” leave the Catalan giants as he wants to be a “legend” at the club.
The 17-year-old made his Barça debut at 15 years of age in April 2023 has become a key part of the Spanish giants.
He said on the show ‘El Hormiguero’ on Spanish private television Antena 3;
“I hope I never leave [Barcelona], I want to be a legend at Barca.”
The winger was instrumental to Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024 for a record fourth time, also becoming the youngest player to feature and score in the tournament’s history.
At Barca, Yamal is seen as the most exciting youth academy player, which has even drawn comparisons with another La Masia graduate and football icon Lionel Messi.
“To be compared to the best in history is incredible and that means you’re doing something right but I try to be me and be remembered for myself.
“It will be very difficult to get to that [Messi’s achievements], so I hope I will be remembered for being Lamine Yamal,” he said.
