Real Madrid stormed to their record-extending 36th league title following a stunning 2023-24 campaign which saw them record just one loss and one player key to their success has been ultimately awarded as the LaLiga Player Of The Season.
Jude Bellingham was voted by fans, club captains and a panel of experts beating teammate Vinicius Jr., Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid and Girona marksman Artem Dovbyk.
The 20-year-old scored 19 goals and recorded six assists in 28 league games, while also totalling 23 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for the Los Blancos.
The Englishman, who was absent from the occassion which took place on Tuesday in Sardinia due to preparations for Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, cut a honoured figure in his message.
Bellingham said in a message: “I would like to dedicate it to my teammates, the coaching staff and, most importantly, to the fans of the best club in the world.
“It’s a pleasure every time I play for this team. Hala Madrid!.”
This is not Bellingham’s first individual reward as part of recognition for a superb league campaign as he also won the 2022-23 Bundesliga Player of the Season award playing for former club Borussia Dortmund — who he faces in the Champions League final this weekend.
