Paris Saint-Germain have beaten the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal to the €60million signing of their new midfielder, the club confirmed on Monday.
Portuguese midfielder Joao Neves completed his move from Benfica to the Parc Des Princes on a five-year contract, with €10million worth of potential add-ons.
Neves is a product of the Benfica academy and has made 75 appearances for the Portuguese side in all competitions, winning the Primeira Liga in the 2022-23 campaign and Supertaca Candido de Oliveira last term.
The 19-year-old has also won nine international appearances.
“Joao is one of most talented players in Portugal and internationally,” said PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi in a statement.
“He was so passionate to join PSG and determined to fight for the jersey — which is what we expect of all our players.
“We continue to build a fantastic young team at PSG — based on teamwork, talent and collective spirit — which is the foundation of our club’s great future.”
