Liverpool continue their new era in brilliant style as they moved eight points clear at the summit of the Premier League while, despite a new contract for Pep Guardiola, old woes still remain for Manchester City as their losing run clocked five games.

Mohamed Salah second half double was needed at St. Mary’s for the Reds to pick up a 3-2 with against Southampton.Dominik Szoboszlai had put the Merseysiders ahead but goals from Adam Armstrong and Mateus Fernandes turned the game on its head before Salah turned rescuer.

The win confirmed Arne Slot to be among the managers to reach 10 wins in the league in the quickest amount of games as he has now amassed 32 points, eight ahead of the chasing pack.

The chasing pack is led by second-placed Manchester City.

The misery continued for the defending champions as they lost their fifth consecutive game in all competitions and third successive in the league with a 0-4 thumping suffered against Tottenham Hotspur.

A brace from James Maddison, and goals from Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson ended the Cityzens’ home unbeaten run and was also the heaviest home defeat for Pep Guardiola at the club.

Chelsea maintained their place in third as they defeated Leicester City 2-1 at the King Power.

Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez netted for the Blues to give manager Enzo Maresca a winning return to his former club – however, the result meant the end for his opposite number.

Leicester manager Steve Cooper was sacked on Sunday following the defeat.

Arsenal are level with 22 points with Chelsea, but still sit fourth, following their dominating 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Bukayo Saka netted the opener for the Gunners in the first half and after the interval, Thomas Partey and Ethan Nwaneri came off the bench to seal the points for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Nwaneri’s goal made him the second youngest goalscorer in Premier League history for Arsenal.

Ruben Amorim could not make a winning start in the Premier League as Manchester United manager as they were held to a 1-1 draw by 18th placed Ipswich Town.

Marcus Rashford scored for the Red Devils inside 120 seconds to give Amorim’s side the lead but Omari Hutchinson’s deflected strike just before halftime was the leveller which left the game as a share of the spoils.

Man United sit 12th with 16 points following the result at Portman Road.

Brighton and Hove Albion climbed to fifth on the log after a 2-1 win at AFC Bournemouth.

Joao Pedro and Kauru Mitoma netted for the Seagulls despite Carlos Baleba’s red card, while David Brooks netted what was seen as scant consolation for the home side.

Aston Villa dropped to eighth after their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Ismaila Sarr had put Palace ahead inside four minutes but Ollie Watkins equalised for the hosts on 36 minutes.

Justin Devenny scored to put the Eagles ahead once again after Youri Tielemans failed to convert a penalty but Ross Barkley levelled matters with a goal 13 minutes from time.

Wolverhampton Wanderers stunned Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage thanks to Matheus Cunha’s double while Everton and Brentford played out a goalless draw.

Newcastle United welcome West Ham United to St. James Park on Monday night in a game that could see the Magpies moved up to sixth if they get maximum points.
