Alvaro Morata and Rodri have been handed their punishments for their celebrations and behaviours during their Euro 2024 trophy presentation in Madrid last month.
UEFA, on Wednesday, announced a one-match ban for the pair – who sang “Gilbratar is Spanish”, a day after their 2-1 European Championship final triumph over England.
Gilbratar is a British territory located at the southern tip of Spain.
European football’s governing body stated the punishment was for failing to comply with the general principles of conduct, violating the basic rules of decent conduct, violating the basic rules if decent conduct, using sporting events for manifestations of a non-sporting nature and bringing the sport of football into disrepute.
The ban is due for the next UEFA international game, during which the players would otherwise be eligible.
