France captain and superstar Kylian Mbappe was officially presented and unveiled as a Real Madrid player at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old made a bold statement in front of the Los Blancos faithful — as he completed his medical in the morning and signed a five-year contract while also being given the No.9 shirt by club president Florentino Perez.
Expressing his happiness, Mbappe said to a sell-out crowd: “Wow.”
“For years I’ve dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and today my dream has come true.
“I’m a happy boy. I’m going to give my life for this club.”
The former Paris Saint-Germain star was accompanied by his parents, who were watching from the crowd, and with former France international Zinedine Zidane in attendance, Mbappe cut an emotional figure as the supporters chanted his name and he, at one point kissed the jersey of the reigning LaLiga and Champions League winners.
Speaking of his new big signing, Perez said: “[Mbappe is] an exceptional player who today fulfils the dream of his life. Welcome to your home.”
Despite the resumption of Real Madrid training on Monday, Mbappe will have a few more days off due to his Euro 2024 commitment.
The 15-time European Champions’ acquisition of their latest Galatico allowed fans continue celebrating following Spain’s Euro 2024 victory on Sunday.
A bigger crowd turn up was expected than 15 years ago when Cristiano Ronaldo was unveiled as free tickets were picked up quickly as the arrival of arguably the game’s current best forward was anticipated.
Mbappe is set to line up with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Federico Valverde, in what seems a scary Madrid team.
