Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was cool headed after becoming the first manager to win his first three away games in the Premier League since his former boss Pep Guardiola in 2016.

The former Leicester City manager and Manchester City assistant manager — guided the Blues to their 3-0 triumph at West Ham United on Saturday with Nicolas Jackson netting a brace and Cole Palmer’s near post finish.

Following the efficient victory over their rivals, Maresca believes his young side still have room for improvement despite admitting there was progress.

“The way the players are buying the idea, or the different style, since I arrived has been top,” Maresca said to reporters.

“I think we are on the right path, we are in the right direction. But this is a long journey.”

Maresca is the fourth permanent coach to work for Chelsea since the American owners purchased the club in 2022.

After a 12th placed finish two seasons ago and sixth last season, Chelsea need to up their game to return as a heavyweight in England and Europe at large.

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali were both spotted at the London Stadium on Saturday, despite media reports of a tense situation, and they congratulated the players and coaching staff after the game.

“They were in the changing room, they were all happy,” Maresca added.

“The main target in this moment is to see how we progress as a team and I think we are improving many things even if today we could attack better, we could defend better.”
