Leicester City suffered despair in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign after relegation to the Championship but a superb 2023-24 season saw them waste little time as they lifted the Championship title to secure promotion ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Crucial to Leicester’s exploits was Enzo Maresca who took charge at the start of the season.
The former Man City assistant coach, under Pep Guardiola, introduced a new system and entertaining football which delighted the King Power faithful.
Ultimately, Maresca attracted interest from Chelsea — who sacked Mauricio Pochettino — and was announced as new head coach of the Blues.
Maresca’s exit left Leicester with a void to fill and the Foxes hierarchy had moved to begin discussions with former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter.
Football transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano, reports that talks which began last week have been advancing between both parties with a full agreement very close.
Final details such as staff members are also being discussed in other to reach full agreement.
Potter did a remarkable job at the American Express Stadium while in charge at Brighton – which prompted links to top clubs.
The Norwegian eventually moved to Chelsea in the 2022-23 campaign, however, the grass was not as green on the other side as a difficult spell resulted in him being axed.
Leicester’s first game of the season is a Monday night visit of Tottenham Hotspur on August 19.
