Leicester City have confirmed the death of their former manager at the age of 60.

The family of Craig Shakespeare announced the demise of the coach who also briefly managed the English national team in 2016.

He died peacefully surrounded by family, according to a statement released on behalf of his family by the League Managers’ Association.

Shakespeare was diagnosed with cancer in October 2023.

He served as assistant to Claudio Ranieri in the 2015-16 season as Leicester historically won the Premier League title and he got the main job at the beginning of 2017.

He was however let go in October of the year as the Foxes struggled with a poor start to the campaign.

Everton, Watford, Aston Villa and Norwich are among the teams Shakespeare has managed and his most recent role was as assistant head coach at Leicester, working with Dean Smith from April 2023, however his contract was not renewed following the club’s relegation.
