Harry Kane moved to Germany to bring a halt to his lack of trophies, but with the past club season not going as he would have planned, the England captain could end the spell by winning Euro 2024 with his national team.
Kane struck his 406th goal for club and country to level matters in England’s dramatic semi-final triumph against the Netherlands.
Despite the outstanding goalscoring prowess, he is reaching his 31 years of age without a single trophy to his cabinet.
Kane secured a move from the Premier League to the Bundesliga last season, keeping up his mark of goals in his new league, netting 44 times in 45 games since moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich for a reported £82million.
Although, the fee paid did not result in team success as Bayer Leverkusen remained unbeaten en route to winning the German double as the Bavarians also crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals to eventual winners Real Madrid — a game which saw an end to Kane’s club campaign as he sustained a back injury.
The England skipper has also received criticism from the likes of Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer for his performances earlier in the tournament as the Three Lions failed to put in impressive performances.
The Three Lions won just once in their first five games in Germany in 90 minutes as they have also needed late goals and coming from behind in each of their three knockout games against Slovakia, Switzerland and Netherlands.
“We’ve had to show unbelievable character, resilience, physical strength, mental strength – we’ve shown it all but there is still one more to go,” Kane said.
“It’s been a tough journey but it’s one more. 90 minutes, 120 minutes, penalties, whatever it takes.”
