“It Wasn’t Enough” – Kompany Disappointed With Bayern Output After 32 Shots In Humbling UCL Loss At Feyenoord

Bayern Munich gaffer Vincent Kompany was displeased with the efficiency of his side as they failed to find the back of the net in their 3-0 loss at Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, despite recording 32 shots and having close to 70% possession.

The Dutch outfit were the efficient side as they scored twice in the first half thanks to Santiago Gimenez and then, adding a third — in a game which they posted just six attempts.

The Bavarians hit the frame of the goal with Leroy Sane’s header in the second half and a flurry of saves from Justin Bijlow kept them at bay.

The shotstopper saved twice from Harry Kane and a brilliant header from Jamal Musiala.

“I have to be honest, Feyenoord deserved their win. They fought hard and ran,” Kompany said in a press conference.

“We had many chances. I felt we could have scored one, two or more goals. Feyenoord used their moments well.”

With just one matchday left to complete the group phase, Feyenoord rose above Bayern, into 11th place with 13 points. The Bavarians slipped to 15th on 12 following their third loss in seven games.

The top eight of the competition qualify automatically for the round of 16 and the next 16 teams go into a playoff.

“Individually and collectively it wasn’t enough from our side today,” Kompany added.

“We put the work in we gave it our all but the performance was not just good enough. We had our moments where we could have scored but we did not make the most of them.”
