Teen sensation Lamine Yamal, who suffered an ankle injury in last weekend’s defeat to Leganes, has been confirmed to be out of action for Barcelona until 2025.
The Spain international, who left the pitch with 15 minutes of action left in the 1-0 loss, will be on the sidelines for up to four weeks after sustaining a trauma to his right ankle.
“Tests carried out this morning have shown a grade one injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament,” the club statement said.
“The player is expected to be out for three to four weeks.”
Yamal had previously missed three games for the Catalan outfit last month with another ankle issue, and along with Barca’s key game with Atletico Madrid on Saturday, the 17-year-old could also miss their Copa del Rey game at Barbastro and the Spanish Super Cup in January.
Barcelona’s defeat left them dangling on top spot in LaLiga, with Atletico now equal on 38 points, with one less game played, while Real Madrid are a point adrift and also have a game in hand.
