Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has returned to European football. The Spaniard has signed for Italian club Fiorentina, after being without a team for the last year. The 33-year-old, who kickstarted his career at Atlético Madrid where he won the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup, has signed a one-year deal with the option of another. De Gea left Man United in July 2023 following the expiration of his contract and after 12 seasons which included lifting the Premier League, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Europa League.

The 26-year-old – who was a key player for La Roja en route to their Euro 2024 triumph – signed a six-year deal with the Catalan giants. Leicester City have confirmed the death of their former manager at the age of 60. The family of Craig Shakespeare announced the demise of the coach who also briefly managed the English national team in 2016. He died peacefully surrounded by family, according to a statement released on behalf of his family by the League Managers’ Association. Shakespeare was diagnosed with cancer in October 2023.
