Shock waves was sent across Stamford Bridge and the Chelsea faithful at large when the club announced the departure of head coach Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday.

The Argentine just only took charge of the Blues at the start of the season and led them to a sixth place finish — which meant a return to European football — while also an appearance in the Carabao Cup final and an FA Cup semi final.

However, developing reports have emerged citing that the former Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager and the Chelsea board were having contrasting alignments.

It is reported that the hierarchy made the decision as transfers, plan, vision and ideas on the project o the club were not on the same page anymore.

It is also said that the London outfit will now focus on bringing a modern manager who can play offensive football, possession, improve the team defensively and trust young talents.

The decision to sack Pochettino has also been stated as a difficult pill to swallow for most of the Chelsea players who are described as sad and disappointed as the general mood had been good in the past weeks.

The Guardian also reported that “Pochettino never lost the dressing room and several senior players are sad and surprised to see him go.”

Names such as Thomas Frank, Enzo Maresca and Kieran McKenna have been discussed internally on who will take over at the dugout but no decision has been made yet.
