Joao Palhinha has completed a move to German giants Bayern Munich from Fulham on a four-year deal.
The Portugal international featured 79 times for Fulham and on 31 occasions for the senior national team, had previously moved to the London club in 2022.
Although, the financial package of the deal was revealed to be undisclosed, the deal was reported to be worth €51million.
“This is one of the happiest days of my life. I’m now playing for one of the top clubs in Europe,” Palhinha said.
The 29-year-old was close to joining the Bavarians in 2023 but the transfer did not come to fruition on deadline day.
“Joao Palhinha was highly sought after by Bayern even last summer – and rightly so,” said Bayern board member for sport, Max Eberl, in a statement.
“It was important that we never lost touch. Joao really wanted to come to Bayern, and we need players like that. He’s an important building block for our future.”
Bayern Munich confirmed the appointment of Vincent Kompany as coach after their 11-year dominance as Bundesliga champions was brought to a halt by Bayer Leverkusen.
Palhinha is Bayern’s second major signing of the close season window and from Premier League following their acquisition of winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
